Quality Programs

ASCO provides numerous quality activities aimed at improving the standard of cancer care received by patients in the United States and around the world.

ASCO's Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) is an oncologist-led, practice-based quality assessment program that provides practices with a standard methodology, a robust library of quality metrics for oncology, and a collection tool to inform quality improvement activities and demonstrate quality to patients and external stakeholders. At present, QOPI® is in the United States and U.S. territories as well as Argentina, Australia, Brazil, European Union (all countries), India, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, and Saudi Arabia.

The QOPI Certification Program™ provides a three-year certification recognizing high-quality care for outpatient hematology-oncology practices within the United States and in certain other countries. Practices receive QOPI Certification based on their full compliance with the QOPI Certification Standards as assessed during an on-site survey. QOPI Certification is available, on a pilot basis, in a limited number of countries, including Greece, Brazil, Spain, and Romania. Pilot approval is based on legal review and resources.

ASCO’s Quality Training Program leverages renowned faculty and coaches to improve patient care by reducing clinical and process variation during five focused days of in-person learning and virtual assistance.

The ASCO Quality Care Symposium is an unparalleled opportunity to leverage the most up-to-date science and unearth the strategies and tools to make key decisions that can reduce disparities and raise the quality of care for all patients. Take home practical applications that will enhance patient care. Learn more about solution-focused strategies, featuring sessions on cost, value, and policy, health equity and disparities, patient experience, safety, technology and innovation in quality of care, supportive care, and more.

ASCO offers physicians the opportunity to earn Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points for quality improvement and patient safety activities on ASCO Education. View the list of activities that offer the ability to earn ABIM MOC points.
