ASCO has launched “I Live to Conquer Cancer,” a new national outreach and awareness initiative that builds on ASCO’s continued advocacy activities and aims to underscore the critical importance of federally funded cancer research. This campaign includes a series of compelling videos, written stories, advertising, and social media that spotlights federally funded cancer researchers who have devoted their lives to clinical research, as well as the patients who inspire them to continue progress against cancer.
In the new ASCO in Action Podcast, Dr. Edward Kim and ASCO CEO Dr. Clifford A. Hudis examine issues and opportunities around eligibility criteria for cancer clinical trials. During the discussion, Dr. Kim noted that only three-to-five percent of U.S. cancer patients are eligible for clinical trials. “It is really a travesty that the percentage is that low,” Dr. Kim said.  “Out of every 100 patients we see with cancer… only three of them are eligible for clinical trials.”
Researchers can access a wide array of ASCO data through the society’s Center for Research and Analytics (CENTRA). A detailed list of the data, along with samples of each dataset, can be found on CENTRA’s updated Data Library page. ASCO maintains a variety of datasets and other resources that qualified individuals and organizations may request for research purposes.
