Earlier this month, ASCO’s Quality Training Program held its first sessions in Romania and Greece, with a local practice in each location hosting the program’s one-day workshop. On April 3, Asociația Medisprof, an oncology practice in Cluj, Romania, hosted 5 teams and 24 trainees for a day of focusing on process improvement and best practices aimed at improving the quality care for patients.
ASCO is seeking to team with an oncology practice group in Brazil to host a new workshop that would provide an overview of the Society’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) and QOPI® Certification Program. Mission Endowment funding from Conquer Cancer, The ASCO Foundation, would cover the majority of the expenses for the course, including air travel expenses for the faculty and ASCO staff. In turn, the hosting site would pay only for the faculty and staff’s expenses on the ground.
This is the first year that Quality Payment Program performance information will be publicly reported, so the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is offering a supplemental Physician Compare preview period. Eligible clinicians and groups are encouraged to check their performance information before the preview period closes on April 27. Learn more.

The QTP is designed to prepare oncology care teams to design, implement, and lead successful quality improvement activities in their practice settings. To date, more than 100 teams from around the world have participated in the program.
