Learn How Your Practice Compares: Take ASCO’s 2019 Survey of Practice Operations

Oncology Practice Insider

Oncology practices have an opportunity to learn how they compare to others on key business and operational benchmarks through ASCO’s annual Survey of Oncology Practice Operations. The survey, which opens today, reviews the current state of business and operational issues in oncology and is part of ASCO’s continued efforts to help oncology practices navigate the evolving cancer care delivery system.

Participating practices will receive a comprehensive report tailored specifically for them, which will highlight how they compare to others in dozens of practice benchmarks, including productivity, revenue, staffing levels, salaries, expenses, and more. This document can be used as a baseline measure for practice improvement.

Once responses are validated and the data analysis is complete, respondents will also receive a full report of the survey’s findings. The individual practice data from the survey is confidential and will remain internal to ASCO. Deidentified data will be shared with survey participants and may be published in a scientific journal.

Practices are encouraged to complete as much of the survey as possible, but any amount of information will be accepted and used in the analysis. This year, individuals that complete the survey will be entered in a drawing for a free year of Practice Administrator or other Affiliated Health Professional ASCO membership. (If the survey is completed by a physician leader, the membership may be transferred to an associate of their practice.)

ASCO urges all oncology practices in all practice settings – including physician-owned, academic, and hospital/system-based practices – to participate in the survey. The survey allows ASCO to identify trends and stay on top of new challenges, including new and sweeping changes to physician reimbursement, quality reporting, payer utilization management strategies, along with continued competitive pressures.
